Simply register with us for a RES Revision where we would be able to meet up with you and let you clarify any doubts that you might have.

3

REGISTER FOR
RES EXAMINATION

You may only register for the RES examination after you have completed the ‘Certificate of RES Course Completion’ issued by the CEA course provider. Candidates are eligible to take the examination within 2 years from the completion date of their RES course. For candidates who applied for the examinations after 2 years from the completion date of their RES course, you will be required to attend and complete the RES course again before being eligible to take the examination.

RES Examination Format

  • With effect from May 2013, the RES examination format will include a Case Study Section in both Paper 1 and Paper 2, in the form of multiple choice questions.

  • Please refer to the below for the examination format:

    • Total of 2 Papers (Duration: 2.5 hrs each)

      • Section A: 50 MCQs (50 marks)

      • Section B: 15 MCQs with reference to Case Studies (30 marks)

      • Section C: 10 Fill-In-The-Blank Short Answer Questions (20 marks)

Modular Sitting for RES Examination

From 1 August 2011, candidates are allowed to retake the examination in a modular sitting if they have passed one paper of the RES examination.

  • From July 2011 RES examination onwards, the examination results will be in one of the following formats:

  • Pass (P)

  • Fail (F)

  • Pass Paper 1; Fail Paper 2 (P1 F2)

  • Fail Paper 1; Pass Paper 2 (F1, P2)

Important note: There is no change to the examination requirements for RES course participants to pass the RES examination, comprising two papers, within 2 years from the date of issuance of the RES course completion certificate. For candidates with a modular pass in one paper of the RES examination, they are required to pass the remaining paper within a 2-year timeframe. If they have failed to do so, the modular pass in one paper will not considered valid and candidates will thus be required to retake the RES course before attempting the RES examination again.

After taking the RES examination, candidates will receive an email notification from CEA’s appointed examination administrator, informing them of their examination results 4 to 6 weeks after the examination. In order to qualify to be a licensed real estate salesperson, candidates are required to pass both papers.
